It’s now the busy time of year in my other job, as a director of the private election service firm Above Quota Elections Pty Ltd. I’m again back at Melbourne University for a couple of months, as Deputy Returning Officer for their annual student election (nominations close this Friday; polling is in the week of 2–6 September).
This has two implications:
- I won’t have as much time to devote to blogging, so posts are likely to be a bit shorter or less frequent than usual.
- Because of the need to avoid any appearance of partiality, I’ll be steering away from topics that look as if they might be an issue of contention in a student election. (You’re usually pretty safe on that score with international politics, but occasionally something requires caution.)
Please bear with us. Normal service will resume in late September.
