The liberal dilemma: Spain and Sweden

Sweden finally gets a government, as does the Spanish region of Andalusia. In each case, liberal parties had to decide which variety of extremist was less dangerous to countenance.

Self-determination, here and there

Catalonia has no chance of getting a credible vote for independence this week. Kurdistan has already got one, but it's not doing it much good.
