Merry Christmas everyone!

Blogging is taking a Christmas break this week, but we’ll be back next week with our usual end-of-year summary. Other topics I hope to cover then include the re-emergence of political chaos in Bulgaria, the antisemitism crisis at the Heritage foundation, and the continued fallout from the massacre at Bondi Beach.

Among the less obvious effects of the latter has been a relative absence this year of the “war on Christmas” narrative, since so many of the usual culprits on the hard right have been posing as philosemites and therefore not making such a big issue of their (equally bogus) Christianity. So perhaps we can just enjoy the holiday, whatever we call it and whatever (secular or religious) tradition we come from.

For more thoughts from me on the subject, you could read this blog’s very first Christmas post, from back in 2012.
