It’s been a big time for elections lately, so I’m on holiday for the next three weeks. I’ll still be online for at least some of the time, but blogging will be on a reduced schedule and it’ll probably take a bit longer than usual to respond to comments.
Meanwhile, almost three weeks after the event the Australian election is still not finally settled. Senate counting continues, so far with no change in the likely outcome, but the final seat in Western Australia remains very close between Labor and One Nation, while the last two seats in Tasmania are a three-way contest between Jacqui Lambie, the Liberals and the ALP.
Two lower house seats also remain in some doubt: Calwell in Victoria, where independent Carly Moore clings to a slight hope of overtaking Labor, and Bradfield in New South Wales, where the Teal is now just 28 votes ahead of the Liberal, a margin that could conceivably be undone in a recount.
When that’s all settled next week we’ll have another look at some of the numbers.
